Jacksonville man wins $1 million prize from scratch-off

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville resident Billy Pitman, 61, recently claimed a $1 million prize from the Florida Lottery’s $25,000,000 Gold Rush Multiplier Scratch-Off game. He collected his winnings at Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee on Nov. 17.

Pitman opted for a one-time lump-sum payment of $638,100. He purchased the winning ticket at Winn-Dixie, located at 11380 Beach Boulevard in Jacksonville.

The $50 Gold Rush Multiplier Scratch-Off offers two top prizes of $25 million and sixty prizes of $1 million. The game features more than $1.2 billion in total cash prizes, with overall odds of winning at about 1 in 4.

Scratch-Off games make up roughly 74% of Florida Lottery ticket sales for fiscal year 2024-25. Since their launch, these games have awarded over $66.9 billion in prizes, created 2,350 millionaires, and contributed more than $20 billion to the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
