JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two crashes have been reported on I-295 northbound on the Westside about 1 mile apart.
According to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, the crashes, which happened around 12:40 p.m., were part of “one incident.”

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a crash on I-295 NB near Herlong Road left at least one person dead.
A mangled vehicle could be seen under the overpass bridge, a few feet from a damaged section of guardrail.
Another crash with injuries was reported about a mile south near Wilson Boulevard.
That crash appeared to involve a pick-up truck and possibly one or two other vehicles.
The crashes have the right lane of I-295 NB shut down and are causing heavy congestion through that stretch of highway. Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes if possible.
