Car, motorcycle crash results in fatality

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville Fire and Rescue responded to the scene of a crash on Art Museum Drive and Atlantic Boulevard Sunday night. Crews found a car and motorcycle had crashed resulting in critical injuries. Crews are responding to a traffic accident at Art Museum dr and Atlantic blvd involving a motorcycle vs a car... S12 is on scene advising critical injuries....expect delays in the area. — MyJFRD (@JFRDJAX) July 6, 2020The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office provided an update that the crash did result in a fatality. JFRD said traffic in the area should expect delays.

FHP: Driver killed in Friday night crash in Nassau County

HILLIARD, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol said a 25-year-old driver died Friday night after swerving out of her lane on County Road 108 in Nassau County. That 25-year-old was driving eastbound on County Road 108 around 9:10 p.m. Friday when she strayed out of her lane and struck a car with two people headed westbound. The driver of the first car died and the other driver and passenger both sustained serious injuries. According to FHP, no one involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt.

Florida motorcycle officer killed in crash

LAKELAND, Fla. – A Florida motorcycle officer was killed in a crash while driving his police-issued Harley-Davidson to work Thursday morning, authorities said. Officer Paul Dunn, 50, died shortly before 6 a.m., according to a post on the with the Lakeland Police Department’s Facebook page. Passing motorists saw the motorcycle and stopped to help Dunn, Judd said. “We have suffered a tragic loss out here this morning,” Garcia said during the news conference. “It’s a tragic loss for the agency and the community as well.

Tow truck rear-ends semi on I-95; driver killed

The driver of the semi that was struck, Ener Suarez, 31, of Hialeah, was taken to Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine with minor injuries. Troopers were investigating whether or not the semi had its lights on when it was rear-ended. The two vehicles involved remained on site for several hours as troopers investigated the crash, slowing northbound traffic. The FHP also said the rest stop remains closed due to damage to the asphalt on the ramp. His racing family came right after that and he loved working, doing towing."

Lanes reopened after fatal crash in Lake City

LAKE CITY, Fla. – At around 4:45 a.m. Saturday, Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a crash on U.S. 90 just west of Northwest Rodeo Court in Lake City. Troopers said that crash left at least one person died in the crash. U.S. 90 was blocked off for a short period of time while FHP investigated, but all lanes have since reopened.

1 dead, 1 seriously injured in wrong way crash

BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. – One driver died and another was seriously injured after a wrong way crash that involved two cars and a truck in Bradford County around 11:30 p.m. Friday. Florida Highway Patrol says the driver of a Honda Accord, Lisamaray Marrero, 21, was driving North on US 301 just south of County Road 18 when she crossed the median into oncoming traffic in the southbound lanes and hit the side of a Toyota Corolla. A freightliner that was also driving south swerved to avoid the crash, but hit the side of the Toyota and the Honda head on. Marrero was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, Shauna T. Clifton, 21, was transported to UF Health Gainsville with serious injuries.
