Pedestrian dies after being struck on New Kings Road
Pedestrian killed in crash on New Kings Road (WJXT)
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man in his 60s was hit and killed Friday evening in a crash on New Kings Road in Jacksonville, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Police said the crash was reported around 6:40 p.m. on New Kings Road, about a half-mile south of I-295.
A man driving a Ford Flex northbound struck the pedestrian, who was in the roadway, JSO said. There are no marked crosswalks near the crash site.
The pedestrian died at the scene.
This fatality marks the 163rd traffic death in Duval County this year and the 36th involving a pedestrian.
Northbound New Kings Road was reduced to one lane for about an hour as detectives conducted their on-scene investigation.
