TRAFFIC ALERT: All lanes of I-95 in St. Johns County reopen after fiery crash

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – All lanes of Interstate 95 between State Road 206 and State Road 207 in St. Johns County have reopened after a fiery traffic accident shut down the interstate for hours Sunday afternoon.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue responded to the two-vehicle crash that caused a semi truck to become engulfed in flames around 3:15 p.m.

The hazmat team worked to clean up the diesel spill from the semi-truck.

As of 3:36 p.m., the fire was extinguished, but all lanes remained blocked.

One person was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition, SJCFR told News4JAX.

Traffic was at a complete standstill as travelers could be seen standing alongside the highway, waiting for the crash to be cleared.

All northbound and southbound lanes reopened completely just before 10 p.m.
