JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol says the public has been helpful but still needs more information to find the driver who fled the crash on Southside Boulevard.
The scene of the deadly crash from New Year’s Day is now cleared, but for the family of Bradley Kinder, the pain is only beginning.
Corinne Broskey, Kinder’s aunt, said, “Unbelievable, especially for someone to leave the scene. It was unbelievable because for us it’s like the end of a family, so it’s hard.”
She said Kinder was killed in the hit-and-run crash on Southside Boulevard.
Florida Highway Patrol said a person was riding their bike in the bike lane along Southside early New Year’s Day when a 2010 Dodge Challenger registered in Pennsylvania struck and killed them.
The driver ran away.
“He was a good person,” Broskey said.“He’ll be missed.”
As she shared photos of her nephew, Broskey remembers a man with big dreams—someone who wanted to help others and grew up wanting to plant trees to help feed the community.
“Oh, I was crazy about that kid,” she said. “I was crazy about him. He was like I said there wasn’t a mean bone in his body.”.
Now, as investigators search for the driver, Broskey has a message for whoever left her nephew on that road.
“I hope the guilt gets to them because how can you walk away from something like that?” she said.
She said Bradley would have turned 33 next month.
His aunt said while nothing will bring full closure, justice might help ease their pain.
“It’d be closure, not full closure. That’ll never happen but I wanna see it happen. I want to see this guy brought to justice,” she said.
Anyone who knows anything about this crash is asked to contact Crime Stoppers or the Florida Highway Patrol.
