JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – At the top of the new year, CSX said the Jacksonville-based company would streamline its management structure, eliminating 166 management positions, or approximately 5% of its management workforce, according to a statement to News4JAX.

The changes are part of the company’s ongoing efforts to continually improve business performance, align resources with business needs, and ensure CSX’s long-term success.

To support employees affected by this change, CSX provided competitive severance packages and employment transition services.

The statement said, in part, “CSX has streamlined its management structure, eliminating 166 management positions, or approximately 5% of its management workforce. This decision follows a thorough evaluation of current market conditions and the company’s cost structure.”

CSX currently employs approximately 23,000 people nationwide, including more than 3,000 management employees. Roughly 56% of the company’s management team is based in Jacksonville, Florida, where CSX maintains a significant operational and corporate presence.

The company also implemented a round of layoffs in July 2025, affecting 125 managerial positions.
