A zone-by-zone comparison between 2024 and 2025 revealed some striking increases. Zone 11, covering Elkton, saw calls more than double with a 207% increase — from 619 calls in 2024 to 1,904 in 2025.
Public Information Officer Chris Naff explained, “The reason why those numbers are a little off and a little different is because this station just went online in September of 2024, so we only have about three or four months of data for that year. So then we see, you know, 2025, we have a significant call increase for this particular area in Elkton, 207/95 area.”
Other zones also experienced growth. Zone 17, near County Road 210, saw a 21% increase in calls, rising from about 2,030 to 2,467. Zone 15, around Pine Island Road, had a 17% increase, and Zone 18, covering the Nocatee area, saw a 12% rise.
“And then Station 17, which is Zone 17 off of County Road 210, which is incorporated into the Silverleaf area, which will eventually be our next station that we’re opening up. And then Nocatee in the Pine Island area, that’s Station 18 and Station 15, off US-1, Anakaty 210 East, Palm Valley Road area,” Naff said.
The increase in calls had them busy.
“We’re seeing a lot more medical calls. As our population grows and it also gets older, we’re gonna have a lot medical calls,” Naff said. “We’ve also seen a significant increase in structure fires. There’s structure fires, a lot of them are from the lithium-ion batteries, which we’ve covered multiple times, and E-bikes. And E-bikes, we have a lot of E-bike accidents.”
Accidents on Interstate 95 also remain a constant source of calls for SJFR.
