Community effort brings in over $78,000 for children’s care at Wolfson Hospital

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For 12 hours, News4JAX, community volunteers, and business partners joined forces to raise money for Wolfson Children’s Hospital.

Tens of thousands of dollars were raised in just one day, providing a reflection of how giving this community is, especially when it comes to children.

Beginning at 7 a.m., Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia united to support children during their most vulnerable moments.

The goal was to raise $100,000 for Wolfson Children’s Hospital.

Along the way, the fundraiser introduced families whose children have benefited from the hospital’s care.

Thirteen-year-old Noah B shared, “I like to swim, play video games and sometimes even play baseball. I’d like to say thank you to all the people who work to help Wolfson out.”

The Butler family recounted their experience: “At week 25, my wife gave birth to him, and he’s spent six months in the NICU with quite a few complications. But with the help of Wolfson, we overcame everything, and he’s as healthy as he can be.”

LaToya R., mother of Braylen R., said, “Our relationship with Wolfson Children’s Hospital was from day one when he was born. He spent two weeks in the NICU and was discharged on Valentine’s Day.”

Byron Brown’s family described him as “such a very sweet-spirited child. The moment you get around him and have interactions with him, he just literally lights up a room.”

As donations poured in, the total climbed steadily: from $40,000 to $50,000, then $70,000.

One parent said, “It means everything. As long as he’s getting all the help he needs and taking a little bit of the weight off of us, it’s a blessing.”

In just one day, this community raised enough money to help hundreds of children. The final total: $78,194.
