Gun battle during afternoon home invasion leaves resident, would-be robber injured: JSO

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man who was attacked by three would-be robbers in his home on 6th Avenue Thursday afternoon was wounded in a gun battle and also injured one of the suspects, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said that around 2 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a report of someone being shot on 6th Avenue about two blocks south of Soutel Drive in the Riverview area.

The officers found the man inside a vehicle in front of the home, suffering from a gunshot wound, and the injured suspect on the front lawn, JSO said. Both were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

According to investigators, three masked armed suspects came into the man’s home Thursday afternoon and tried to rob him. They said the would-be robbers opened fire on the man, who fired back and hit one of them.

The injured suspect crawled out of the home into the front yard while the other two ran off. They have not yet been found, police said.
