JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The sounds of a gun battle Thursday afternoon between would-be robbers and a man inside a home on 6th Avenue were captured on home surveillance footage obtained Friday by News4JAX.
The neighbor’s camera also captured the key moments before and after the attempted home invasion that left both the victim and one of the suspects injured, and two other suspects on the run.
Investigators said that around 2 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a report of someone being shot on 6th Avenue about two blocks south of Soutel Drive in the Riverview area.
The video captured by a nearby home surveillance camera shows that shortly before that, three people are seen walking briskly in the direction of the house.

A little over 30 seconds later, more than a dozen gunshots can be heard in rapid succession, followed by a short pause and then a single shot.
According to investigators, what happened off-camera was that three masked, armed suspects came into a man’s home and opened fire on him in an attempted home invasion robbery. The man fired back and hit one of the suspects.
A second piece of surveillance footage from the same home shows two of the suspects running away, then cutting back and running to the side of the home with the camera.
They can be heard off camera briefly before they both cross back in front of the home and run off down the street. As of Friday afternoon, those two had not yet been found, police said.
According to investigators, while the two uninjured suspects ran away, the injured suspect crawled out of the home into the front yard, where he was found by officers responding to the reported shooting.
The officers also found the victim inside a vehicle in front of his home, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Both were taken to the hospital in stable condition.
