Man taken to hospital after being shot inside car, crashing into light pole in Lackawanna area

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was transported to a hospital Sunday evening after being shot multiple times and then crashing into a light pole in the Lackawanna area, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Around 8:18 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting on Shortreed Street, near Webster Street.

When police arrived, they found a man inside his car suffering from several gunshot wounds to the torso.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and transported the man to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

Police said initial investigation revealed the man, who is in his mid-30s, was sitting inside his car when an unknown suspect approached him from behind and fired multiple shots.

The victim drove away, but then crashed into a nearby light pole, JSO said.

According to JSO, officers have not been able to talk with the man due to his medical condition, but detectives were speaking with witnesses and looking for potential video surveillance.
