Brush fire shuts down parts of CR 108 in Nassau County

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – A brush fire shut down County Road 108 between Henry Smith and Bay Road in Hilliard, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office said.
Drivers were urged to avoid the area and use U.S. 1 or County Road 121 as an alternate route.
The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office said its drone unit helped crews fight flames on the ground.
According to Nassau County Emergency Management, as of 5:55 p.m. Wednesday, the fire was affecting about 70 acres and was 50% contained.
Henry Smith Road has reopened, and no structures have been impacted, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
