JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it has arrested a man who is accused of intentionally setting a house in Springfield on fire while eight people were inside.

JSO said that when the fire was extinguished, officers discovered 62-year-old Willie Haywood Jr. had passed away in the home, which prompted the JSO Homicide Unit and the State Fire Marshal to begin an investigation.
After interviewing multiple witnesses, detectives, working in cooperation with the State Fire Marshal’s Office, determined that Lindo intentionally set the home on fire, police said.
The eight counts of attempted murder represent one count for every person who was inside the home when Lindo allegedly set the fire, police added.
