St. Johns County Sheriff discusses safety after 12-year-old hit and killed riding mini dirt bike

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – For the first time, St. Johns County Sheriff Rob Hardick is talking about the tragedy last month involving a 12-year-old boy who was hit and killed riding a mini dirt bike in the crosswalk outside Patriot Oaks Academy.

Sheriff Hardwick spoke with News4Jax Anchor Jennifer Waugh about why deadly accidents take longer to investigate and about the feedback he’s received from a community coping with back-to-back tragedies.
