JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville family is mourning the loss of a beloved father known for his vibrant presence, who was shot and killed inside a Northwest Jacksonville laundromat.
On Feb. 23, 61-year-old Roderick Crawford was found shot to death at a laundromat on Soutel Drive, near New Kings Road.

At the time, no arrests had been made in the case.
Jacquelyn Chapman is Crawford’s daughter.
“Our family experienced a devastating and unexpected loss. Roderick Maurice Crawford — a devoted father, grandfather, son, nephew, and friend — was tragically taken from us by a senseless and unjust act of violence," Chapman said in the GoFundMe.
Chapman remembered her father as a man who lit up every room he entered and was full of life. She started a GoFundMe to raise $15,000 to support funeral and other expenses after his death.
“Our goal is not extravagant — it is practical. This amount will allow us to lay him to rest with dignity and ensure that our grandmother continues receiving stability and care during this transition," the fundraiser said.
She told News4JAX that she wants people to remember her father for “the joy he brought to people and the love he shared with everyone around him.”
He will be laid to rest on Friday.
