CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Backward driver arrested after bizarre joy ride, Flagler County deputies say

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – A Palm Coast man was arrested after deputies say he drove a sedan backward on State Road 100, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to deputies, multiple callers reported a silver sedan traveling eastbound in reverse on SR 100. The Sheriff Office’s Real Time Crime Center tracked the vehicle to the Panda Express parking lot.

Deputies stopped the car near SR 100 and Airport Road.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the 47-year-old driver said the car had a mechanical issue and he “thought the best option” was to drive it backwards to AutoZone.

However, deputies said his mechanical issues disappeared when deputies got behind him and he shifted the car into drive.

Deputies arrested him on a charge of habitual driving while his license was suspended or revoked. The sheriff’s office said he has more than 10 prior convictions for driving while license suspended.
