Curious about how bomb squads learn to save lives? Camp Blanding training open to public on Wednesday morning

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – Members of the public and media are being given rare access Wednesday to watch bomb squads and explosive ordnance disposal teams train for worst-case scenarios during the Army-backed Raven Challenge.

Organizers describe the Raven Challenge as a multi-location, year-round series of exercises designed to bring together local, state and federal bomb teams.

The training emphasizes equipment familiarity, rapid decision-making and responding under pressure during realistic scenarios.

The VIP Day at Camp Blanding is intended to show the public how teams work and to demonstrate tools and procedures used during responses.

The training will run through the end of this week but is open to the public from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Wednesday at Camp Blanding Joint Training Center. The address is 5629 FL-16 W, Starke, FL 32091.
