Volusia County deputy, Daytona Beach police use paddleboards to capture man who ran, jumped into Halifax River

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A Volusia County deputy and a Daytona Beach Shores police officer used paddleboards to capture a suspect who ran from them and jumped into the Halifax River.

The video shows a 28-year-old man talking with deputies before he takes off running away from them. He made it all the way to the Halifax River, where he was floating in the water, before law enforcement used paddleboards to capture him and bring him back to shore.

The man was charged with loitering, prowling and resisting arrest, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said.
