JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Nearly four months after 58-year-old Alesa Leach was found dead in a Jacksonville home, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that it had arrested Joseph Anderson on a murder warrant.
Authorities said Leach was discovered covered in blood on a mattress in a home on West 14th Street near Myrtle Avenue in November. Investigators later found evidence they said placed Anderson, 49, in the home with Leach when she died.

JSO said Leach had an injunction against Anderson. A warrant alleging a violation of that injunction was filed, and Anderson was arrested in Connecticut on Dec. 5, 2025. He was extradited to Jacksonville and held in the Duval County jail.
On Friday, JSO obtained and served a separate arrest warrant charging Anderson with murder while he remained in custody.
He faces a murder charge and unspecified additional charges, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office did not immediately provide additional details about the evidence or the specific nature of the other charges.
