Firefighters worked to prevent the car fires from spreading to a nearby wooded area.

Firefighters said there was danger or threat to surrounding communities or neighborhoods

JFRD said the fire was brought under control and all units have since cleared the scene.

Crews with the Florida Forestry Service were also on the scene, putting a security line around the auto parts yard.

It’s unclear how the fire started.

Jacksonville’s risk for wildfires remains high amid the ongoing extreme drought.

The combination of dry ground -- over 25 inches in our rainfall deficit in some areas -- and gusty winds has increased fire danger.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was not reporting any lane closures in the area, as of 1:15 p.m.
