Firefighters say there is danger or threat to surrounding communities or neighborhoods

JFRD said it will be monitoring the scene through the afternoon into the early evening.

Crews with the Florida Forestry Service were also on the scene, putting a security line around the auto parts yard.

As of 2 p.m., a half-acre of land has burned and the fire is 50% contained, according to the Forestry Service.

It’s unclear how the fire started.

Jacksonville’s risk for wildfires remains high amid the ongoing extreme drought.

The combination of dry ground -- over 25 inches in our rainfall deficit in some areas -- and gusty winds has increased fire danger.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was not reporting any lane closures in the area, as of 1:15 p.m.
