PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – A 23-year-old man died early Wednesday after his sedan left the roadway, struck a sign and trees and overturned on State Road 26 in Putnam County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash was reported about 2:35 a.m. on eastbound State Road 26 near State Road 21. According to the FHP, the driver lost control, ran off the roadway onto the westbound shoulder, and the left side of the vehicle struck a sign and multiple trees. The sedan overturned onto its roof and came to rest on the westbound shoulder facing northbound.

Investigators said the driver was fatally injured. It was unknown whether the driver was wearing a seatbelt. The agency had not released the driver’s name.
The crash is still under investigation.
