JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville man was arrested after police said he fired a shot during an argument with his brother in the McDonald’s parking lot at Oakleaf Town Center, officials said.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office deputies responded about 2:14 p.m. March 24 to the McDonald’s at 9571 Argyle Forest Blvd. after reports that a firearm had been discharged, according to the sheriff’s office.

Officers found the accused shooter, a 33-year-old man, who told investigators he had been dropping a woman off at work across the street at a Burger King when the victim, his 37-year-old brother, exited the vehicle and began arguing with him.
The brothers are both convicted felons, JSO said. The victim told officers he immediately got out of the car because, as a convicted felon, he did not want to be around firearms. Investigators said the argument escalated and that the suspect fired a round; a single shell casing was recovered in the McDonald’s parking lot.
Authorities say the suspect then got into the car — a 1999 green Honda Accord with Florida tag IR89SZ — and fled westbound on Argyle Forest Boulevard. The vehicle was entered as stolen in law enforcement databases later that afternoon. Officers located the car and the accused shooter at about 7:36 p.m. at 1936 W. Third St., and a firearm was recovered inside the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.
The suspect was arrested about 9:29 p.m. and booked into the Duval County jail. He faces attempted second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and theft of a motor vehicle, authorities said.
Under Florida law, convicted felons are barred from possessing firearms. The sheriff’s office said detectives interviewed the suspect and placed a recorded interview into evidence.
The investigation is ongoing. The sheriff’s office did not immediately release bond information.
