JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman is dead after being shot Friday night at a Jacksonville apartment complex, and a person of interest is detained, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Officers responded to an apartment on Collins Road on the city’s westside just after 7:45 p.m. Friday after reports of a shooting. That location is just off Roosevelt Boulevard near Knightsbridge Circle and Fulham Road.

JSO’s says when officers got there, they found the woman inside an apartment with at least one gunshot wound.
JFRD took her to a hospital where she died from her injuries, investigators said.
Homicide and crime scene detectives are investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
JSO said a person of interest is detained and is being questioned, but no one has been arrested at this point.
Police said they believe the shooting is an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
