Johnson was arrested on charges of second-degree murder, second-degree arson and tampering with evidence and was booked into the Clay County Jail, where he is being held without bond.

Authorities said the investigation began after Clay County Fire Rescue and the sheriff’s office responded April 6 to a vehicle fire in the area of N. Mimosa Avenue and County Road 218. Gantt’s body was found inside the burning vehicle, and an autopsy by the Fourth District Medical Examiner’s Office determined the death was a homicide.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing and thanked the community for its assistance.
