JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville’s Animal Control and Protective Services division brought kitten season to the heart of downtown Wednesday, hosting a pop-up adoption event called “Kitty Hall” at James Weldon Johnson Park.
The City of Jacksonville’s ACPS transport van, filled with kittens eligible for foster and adoption, was parked at the park from noon to 2 p.m. Staff and volunteers were on hand to introduce attendees to kittens available for adoption.

All adoption fees were waived for the event. Supplies were also provided for those who were able to foster.
The event came as kitten season — the time of year when animal shelters see an increase in the intake of underage kittens — ramps up across the country.
