Alachua County deputy fired after charges involving multiple acts of violence

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office has terminated a deputy following his arrest on charges involving multiple acts of violence.

According to WCJB, Leviticus Murray was arrested early Friday morning after investigators say he assaulted multiple women during a fight and threatened to shoot people gathered at a home in Cross City.

Sheriff Chad D. Scott said in a news release that Murray was terminated within 12 hours of the agency learning of his arrest.

“In fewer than 12 hours, Leviticus Murray was terminated from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office because his actions are unbecoming of the responsibilities of this agency and the profession of law enforcement,” Scott said.

The sheriff emphasized accountability and transparency in a public statement.

“We strengthen the trust of our community by holding accountable anyone who dishonors the badge,” he said.
