Apparent standoff on University Blvd. at Arlington Road ends after wanted man emerges from SUV surrounded by police

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A large police presence reported in Arlington ended after a wanted man surrendered to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office following an apparent standoff.

JSO advised people to avoid University Boulevard near Arlington Road as the intersection was closed due to an ongoing investigation around 8 p.m.

According to JSO, officers were responding to a wanted suspect, who was taken into custody.

A News4JAX crew on the scene could see JSO officers surrounding a silver SUV with guns drawn. The vehicle had damage to the driver’s side and appeared to have been rammed by a JSO cruiser.

The driver of the SUV was later seen emerging from the car with his hands behind his back.
