JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville man says he’s been without power for several days in the heat after an issue with the electricity at his duplex.

The property is linked to landlord Jarek Tadla, who has had issues with multiple properties across Jacksonville.
News4Jax went to the duplex on Claudia Spencer St. to find out what was happening.
Someone on the property directed our crew to where it appeared there was a box hanging with some exposed wires on the side of the building.
The person told News4Jax he has not had electricity for a few days and says he was told that a crew would come back and fix it. Though he is unsure of exactly when they would be back. He says he has been trying to manage the heat by cooling off in his truck during the day and said the apartment isn’t as hot at night.
News4JAX contacted JEA to narrow down what was happening. They told us in a statement:
“We take safety seriously at JEA. In this case, the customer’s meter can, or weatherhead, and electrical cables were damaged and created unsafe conditions. On June 5, JEA notified the customer of the unsafe conditions and the need to have a licensed electrician replace the meter can and cables. On June 29, JEA removed the meter can in the interest of safety, disconnecting power to the home," a JEA spokesperson said.
News4JAX also reached out to the number on the lease, which went to Legacy Family Communities. Property records show the address is linked to Jarek Tadla. The company asked us to email them and as of time of publishing this story, we have not heard back, though we did reach out in the early afternoon.
JEA also said the property owner would be responsible for the repairs.
“JEA will restore power once repairs are made and an electrician receives a permit from the City of Jacksonville.”
