What’s open and closed on July 4th: Grocery stores, pharmacies, retail, coffee shops

Planning to pick up last-minute supplies for your Fourth of July cookout? Before you head out, it’s worth knowing which stores will be open — and which ones won’t.

Here’s a breakdown of what to expect this Independence Day.

Grocery stores

Publix is open on the Fourth of July with regular store hours. The chain only closes for three holidays each year: Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.

Winn-Dixie stores are also open during regular operating hours on July 4th.

Aldi locations will be open but will close early at 4 p.m. Hours may vary, so shoppers should check the ALDI store locator before heading out.

Trader Joe’s locations will also operate on modified hours, closing early at 5 p.m. on the Fourth of July.

The Fresh Market will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Independence Day.

Whole Foods Market locations in Jacksonville will operate on modified hours, open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 4th.

Big Box Stores

Target will be open July 4th from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Walmart stores will operate on their standard hours of 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Costco is the notable exception — all warehouse locations will be completely closed on July 4th in observance of Independence Day.

Pharmacies

CVS stores will be open regular hours from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on July 4th. However, CVS pharmacies inside those stores will operate on reduced hours, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Shoppers who need prescription services should plan accordingly.

Walgreens store hours will vary by location on the Fourth of July. Some Walgreens pharmacies will be open while others will be closed. Customers should check the Walgreens store locator ahead of time to confirm their local pharmacy’s holiday hours.

Coffee shops

Starbucks locations will be open on the Fourth of July, though hours may vary by location. Customers are encouraged to check their local store’s hours ahead of time.

Dunkin’ will also be open July 4th, with most locations operating under normal business hours. As with Starbucks, it’s a good idea to confirm hours at your nearest location before making the trip.
