Businesses evacuated after natural gas line breaks in Jacksonville’s San Marco neighborhood

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department is responding to a two-inch break in a natural gas line on Kings Avenue near Naugle Way in Jacksonville’s San Marco neighborhood.

JFRD says the call for the leak came in at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Crews are currently on scene working on fixing the leak. At the time, it’s unclear when the repairs will be done.

According to JFRD, business in the neighborhood including SouthState Bank and Locals’ Bar, Kava & Company San Marco have been evacuated.

JFRD originally said the Hilton Garden Inn was also evacuated, but later clarified that was not the case.

Officials also said everyone who was evacuated was able to access their vehicles and leave the area.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
