HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A man was arrested Wednesday after he tried to switch seats with a passenger during a traffic stop and left his vehicle in reverse, sending it rolling into a deputy’s patrol car, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.
The incident happened about 2:50 p.m. near the intersection of North Florida Avenue and West Country Club Drive, officials said.
The bodycam footage released by the sheriff’s office shows the vehicle rolling backward into a patrol vehicle after the driver moved to the passenger seat but left the car in reverse.
Farnardo Alexander Jr., 30, walked away from the crash, deputies said. He was quickly located and arrested.
Alexander faces several felony charges, including leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, the sheriff’s office said.
“Trying to avoid responsibility only makes matters worse,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “If you choose to flee or deceive deputies, expect to face the consequences. In Hillsborough County, we will hold you accountable for your actions.”
