Heavy police presence shuts down part of East Bay Street in downtown Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A large police presence has blocked part of East Bay Street in downtown Jacksonville on Sunday morning as the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office conducts an investigation.

News4JAX crews at the scene observed numerous law enforcement vehicles in the area. East Bay Street is closed between Liberty Street and Newnan Street.

Police activity also extends to the area around Ford on Bay.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has not released details about what prompted the investigation, and it is unclear whether anyone has been injured or whether anyone is in custody.

Motorists should avoid the area and expect traffic delays while officers continue their investigation.
