JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two men were arrested after police found about 4 kilograms of fentanyl at an apartment and a large sum of cash packaged for drug distribution in a vehicle, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

The arrests followed a long-term narcotics investigation by the JSO Narcotics Major Case Unit that led officers to an apartment at 11833 N. Main Street on the evening of July 10, the reports say. Officers found about 4 kilograms of fentanyl, digital scales with drug residue, MDMA and numerous small plastic baggies at the residence, the reports said.

Javaris Lee Williams, 36, of Jacksonville, was taken into custody at the Grand Pointe apartment complex and was booked on charges that include trafficking in fentanyl or fentanyl analogues, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon, and possession of a controlled substance. JSO said Williams is a convicted felon in a 2019 attempted armed robbery case.

A rental 2026 Jeep Gladiator associated with the investigation and used by Alejandro Villasana Jr., 49, of Chicago, contained a large box with a large amount of U.S. currency packaged in “drug bands” consistent with large narcotics transactions, the report said. Villasana was arrested and booked on a trafficking charge.

Searches of Williams’ vehicle and a hotel room rented by Villasana turned up no additional evidence, according to the reports. Both men were taken into custody.

JSO said to call 904-630-0500 if you suspect drug movement in your area.
