JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Just weeks after the official opening of Florida’s first dedicated pediatric hospice and palliative care center, families will get their first look inside the facility on Thursday.
Community Hospice & Palliative Care will host the special open house welcoming Community PēdsCare patients and families to the Dorion Family Pediatric Center for the very first time.
One of only a few such facilities in the United States, the center on Sunbeam Road in Jacksonville was created to expand access to care and deepen support for children living with serious and complex illnesses and the families who care for them.
Families visiting on Thursday will have the opportunity to see the Healing Harmonies Music Therapy Room, HeArts and Hope Creative Arts Room, Sensory Therapeutic Playroom, Outdoor Sanctuary, Adventure Playground, and the Tree of Wonder while participating in activities and connecting with the Community PēdsCare care team.
Made possible through the generosity, vision and trust of the community, the dedicated space reflects a shared commitment to serving families in a more meaningful and impactful way, officials said.
Named in honor of Dottie Dorion and the Dorion family, the center is focused on pediatric hospice and palliative care, which is about helping children live fully, honoring each moment and surrounding families with compassionate support throughout their journey.
