Publix has expanded its recall of GreenWise Organic frozen berries to cover all lots of its Whole Blueberries and Whole Mixed Berries products because of possible E. Coli contamination.
The move follows an earlier, more limited recall. On July 3, supplier Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A., based in San Carlos, Chile, announced a recall of GreenWise Organic Blueberries, 10 oz., Lot Code 60401. After public health officials completed product traceback investigations and reviewed epidemiological data, Publix determined a broader recall was necessary.

From one lot to all lots
What started as a single lot recall has grown to include every lot of two separate frozen berry products sold across eight states — Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
Publix says it acted swiftly once the scope of the contamination became clearer. By the end of June 2026, the company had already conducted an internal stop sale of both frozen GreenWise products. Those items remain off shelves at all store locations.

- GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries, 48 oz., UPC 41415-12053
- GreenWise Organic Whole Mixed Berries, 10 oz., UPC 41415-06753
- GreenWise Organic Whole Mixed Berries, 48 oz., UPC 41415-12153
E. Coli risks
The contamination in question is a Shiga toxin-producing strain of E. coli that can cause severe stomach cramps, bloody diarrhea and vomiting. Most healthy people recover within a week, but the infection can lead to a life-threatening complication called hemolytic uremic syndrome, or HUS. Young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems face the greatest risk.
What to do now
Anyone who has purchased the recalled products is urged not to consume them. The items should be discarded or returned to any Publix location for a full refund.
