JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Transportation Authority Board of Directors plans to discuss candidates for an interim chief executive officer and may make a decision as soon as its Aug. 26 meeting, the authority said.
Only internal candidates will be considered for the interim role. The board is expected to review and potentially interview candidates in the coming weeks, with the possibility of selecting an interim CEO at the Aug. 26 meeting.

JTA CEO Nat Ford announced in July that he would resign and has accepted the chief executive post with Dallas Area Rapid Transit. Ford is scheduled to leave the JTA in October.
The board also approved the qualifications it seeks in a permanent chief executive and directed JTA purchasing staff to solicit proposals from search firms to lead the permanent CEO selection.
The procurement process will be expedited, and the board plans to vote on a search-firm selection at the Aug. 26 meeting.
The authority aims to choose a permanent CEO by the end of the year.
