JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The city of Jacksonville says parts of the Main Street bridge will close starting August 24 as part of the Riverfront Plaza Main Street Bridge Nub Removal Project.
Officials say southbound lanes on the bridge toward Riverplace Boulevard will be reduced to one lane. The southbound pedestrian walkway will also be closed for the duration of construction. Northbound traffic will remain open with two lanes.

Drivers and pedestrians should anticipate delays and plan for alternate routes. The city shared the maps below detailing the detours pedestrians can take during the closure period.

The city says the construction is the first step in making a permanent pedestrian connection from the Main Street Bridge to the new Riverfront Plaza, as part of Phase Two of construction for the Plaza.
Work is anticipated to be completed by January 30, 2027.
