JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Duval County Public Schools delayed bus service for elementary students Monday afternoon due to inclement weather.
The district announced the delay at 3:50 p.m., citing an abundance of caution as the reason for holding elementary school buses. Officials warned that middle school bus service would likely be impacted as well.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we delayed bus service for elementary school students due to inclement weather,” the district said in an alert. “As a result, bus service for middle school students will likely be delayed as well. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to ensure every child is transported home safely.”
Each year, 860 buses transport approximately 48,000 students on more than 3,600 daily trips to Duval County Public Schools.
The bus companies that contract with DCPS are Durham School Services and Student Transportation of America (STA).

The DCPS Transportation Department is open from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. After-hours emergency calls are available from 6 a.m.-7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
