Police activity shuts down Philips Highway near I-95

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The northbound lanes of Philips Highway between I-95 and Shad Road were closed due Monday to police activity, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO said officers are responding to reports of a suicidal person in the area.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area and take another route.

An earlier version of this article included initial reports from JSO that a firearm had been discharged in the area.
