JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Four people — including three teenagers — have been arrested in connection with the murder of an 18-year-old at a Jacksonville park last month, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say all four suspects were in the country without legal immigration status at the time of the arrest.

The shooting
On July 16, District 3 Patrol officers responded to a reported shooting at Jacksonville Drew Park off Barnes Road. Upon arrival, officers say they found 18-year-old Marvin Oporta Garcia suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Oporta Garcia died from his injuries before receiving medical treatment. He was a legal refugee in the United States.
The suspects
JSO says Homicide Unit detectives launched an immediate investigation and identified four suspects: 16-year-old Jose Hernandez Bermudez, 17-year-old Kleber Martinez, 18-year-old Daniel Ramirez Mato and 21-year-old Russell Oliva Reyes.
Investigators say they determined that Martinez and Oliva Reyes are from Honduras, Ramirez Mato is from Cuba, and Hernandez Bermudez is from Nicaragua.
The arrests
On Aug. 15, authorities arrested Hernandez Bermudez, Martinez and Ramirez Mato. Oliva Reyes was arrested the following day. All four were booked into Duval County Jail. Federal authorities were also notified.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says it will continue pursuing justice for Oporta Garcia.
“We will continue working to seek justice for Oporta Garcia and our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time,” the agency said.
