Lake City man arrested for soliciting child for sex in undercover sting: CCSO

LAKE CITY, Fla. – A Lake City man is behind bars after deputies say he solicited a child for sex and attempted to lure the victim to his home.

Investigators say Willie Lamar Rogers, 23, was arrested Monday July 27 after communicating on social media with an undercover Columbia County Sheriff’s Office detective specially trained in child sex sting operations. Rogers allegedly expressed interest in having sex with the ‘child’ and sent pornographic images during the exchanges, while knowing the stated age of the person he was communicating with, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say Rogers provided the ‘child’ with his address and instructed the child to pick him up so they could travel to the child’s residence to have sex while the parents were away. When a vehicle arrived near his home, Rogers was met by detectives instead of the child.

Rogers was arrested and booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility on a $325,000 bond.
