Outshine Fruit Bars recalled over possible glass contamination

Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, Inc. is voluntarily recalling a limited number of Outshine Fruit Bars due to possible foreign material contamination with glass. The Walnut Creek, California-based company announced the recall Aug. 16.

The affected products include five flavors of Outshine 6-Count 2.5-ounce Fruit Bars: Strawberry, Watermelon, Grape, Tangerine and Black Cherry. The recalled lots were distributed to retailers nationwide.

Which products are affected?

Only specific batch codes of the five flavors are subject to the recall. Consumers should check the bottom of their package for the batch code and UPC number to determine if their product is included.

What should consumers do?

No illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with the recall, according to Dreyer’s. Consumers who have purchased any of the affected products are urged to dispose of them immediately or return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.

Anyone who believes they may have been injured by the affected product should contact a healthcare provider right away.

Dreyer’s said in a statement that food safety remains its top priority.

No other Outshine products or varieties beyond the five listed flavors of 6-count, 2.5-ounce paddle bars are affected by this recall.
