VIDEO: Officer catches street racers hitting 120 mph on Buckman Bridge: JSO

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office traffic enforcement officer arrested a street racer clocked at 120 mph on the Buckman Bridge Friday night, one of eight arrests made during a targeted crackdown on dangerous driving, JSO announced Tuesday.

Officer Ernesto Valerio, with JSO’s Specialized Traffic Enforcement Unit, says he was driving an unmarked SUV when he spotted two cars driving side by side, blocking traffic on the bridge. JSO says the drivers, apparently unaware they were being watched, took off racing — hitting speeds of 120 mph.

Valerio pulled one of the drivers over and made an arrest on the spot. Quashay Frazier Jr., 22, was charged with a felony and multiple misdemeanors, including super speeding and racing.

The arrest came during Operation Double Down, a weekend initiative targeting street racing and excessive speeding across Jacksonville. Eight total arrests were made Friday and Saturday, with JSO promising additional details about the operation soon.

The agency noted that more than 100 people have lost their lives on Jacksonville roads so far in 2026, with speed and impairment among the top contributing factors.
