JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Officials said no one was injured after an A. Phillip Randolph High School official said that they thought they heard gunfire near the school.
The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department said that it cleared the area and there were no transports. JFRD said it was in the surrounding area staging for law enforcement in the surrounding area and not at the school.

A school official thought they heard gunshots, but the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it could not confirm that information while assisting the school board, according to the district.
A DCPS spokesperson says the school has gone from a lockdown to a lockout that has since been lifted.
“The lockout has been lifted, and all students and staff are safe. This precautionary safety measure was implemented due to reports of gunfire in the neighborhood. Below are the two communications that were shared with our families.
Lockout Lifted Family Communication:
Hello A. Philip Randolph families. Good news! The lockout has been lifted. Police have given us the all clear to resume our normal day. Students and staff remain safe. Thank you for your patience as we take these safety measures.
Initial Family Communication:
Hello A. Philip Randolph families. Students and staff are safe. The school is on lockdown as a precaution due to reports of gunfire in the area. No one is allowed to leave or enter campus. Please stand by for updates."
