JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man in his late teens was beaten, pistol-whipped and shot during an armed robbery in Jacksonville’s Northside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Officers responded around 10:20 a.m. Wednesday to Vantage Way South near Tradeport Drive after the victim reported being attacked by several suspects. He was taken to a local hospital, treated for facial injuries and released.

The victim later returned to the hospital around 6:35 p.m. with a gunshot wound to his upper right thigh. Investigators said the wound happened during the robbery but was not initially reported or detected. His injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
According to police, the victim told investigators he was on Dunn Avenue when four unknown males offered him a ride in a black vehicle. Near Vantage Way South and International Airport Boulevard, the suspects allegedly pulled him from the vehicle, beat him, shot him and took his wallet, which contained an unknown amount of money.
The victim could not identify the exact location of the shooting, and investigators have not located a crime scene. No shell casings have been recovered.
The victim described the suspect who beat and shot him as a heavy-set male in his late 30s. He could not describe the other three suspects.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses, looking for surveillance video and following up on leads. Investigators believe the incident was isolated and said it does not currently appear to be domestic- or gang-related.
