Gov. Kemp to announce $105K in wildfire suppression grants in Southeast Georgia

SOUTHEAST Ga. – Gov. Brian Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp will meet Tuesday with firefighters who helped contain and eliminate historic wildfires in Southeast Georgia this spring.

The Kemps will announce $105,000 in special wildfire suppression grants for seven fire departments in the hardest-hit counties.

Georgia Forestry Commission Director Johnny Sabo, representatives from fire departments in Echols, Clinch and Brantley counties, and local officials are also expected to attend.

The event will recognize firefighters from the areas impacted by this year’s wildfires and highlight the need for continued wildfire suppression resources.
