JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Icemen and Jacksonville Waves have partnered with Xenco Medical to use artificial intelligence to monitor athletes’ movement and performance throughout the season.

The teams, owned and operated by Zawyer Sports & Entertainment, will use Xenco Medical’s XenVision platform to assess athletes’ biomechanics, including joint movement, range of motion, balance and differences between the left and right sides of the body.

The platform uses computer vision and markerless motion capture to conduct evaluations in less than two minutes without wearable sensors or physical markers. The teams plan to use the assessments to establish individual baselines and track changes over time, helping inform training, recovery and rehabilitation.

Xenco Medical Founder and CEO Jason Haider said the Icemen’s use of the platform will create a longitudinal record of each athlete’s movement during the season.

“The body of a professional hockey player is a story written in motion,” Haider said. “The Icemen’s installation of XenVision to build a longitudinal portrait of each athlete throughout the course of the season, growing more revealing with every assessment, marks what we believe to be one of the most exciting moments in sports science.”
