Should museum curators, historians be free from political influence? It seems President Trump doesn’t think so

President Donald Trump attacked the Smithsonian for showing “how bad slavery was” and said he will have his regime go through museums and deem what is worthy to stay and what should go.

Political analysts and civil rights advocates ask whether the president is trying to rewrite history, undo decades of social progress and undermine the acknowledgment of critical phases of American history.

James Alexander Dun, a historian with Princeton University, joined us on The Morning Show to discuss whether museum curators and historians should be free to do their work without political interference.
